Language Study Site

I ran across this site:

http://www.masteranylanguage.com/

Which has a large selection of languages. From what I've seen so far it looks like a really great resource. It includes all sorts of vocabulary categories with flash cards/games. Some languages even include audio of songs in the language and videos. Obviously some languages have more resources than others in terms of audio etc. but for the most part all the vocab and quizzes that accompany even the lesser known ones seem to be pretty useful.

Zaum Poetry Books

I have a fascination with Silver Age Russian Poetry and am particularly curious about the Futurist movement that created its own language in a sense called Zaum. So I found this site:

http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/digitized_collections/russian_avant-garde/pdfs.html

which is really fantastic because it is a digital collection of some of the most famous futurist poetry collections by artists like Velimir Khlebnikov and Krychenykh. Admittedly this is an acquired taste as the interpretation of the abstract language they used to create poetry is pretty impossible to understand sometimes but I think the idea that they could even come up with it to begin with is a credit to the artists involved.

Sinhala Resource

Sinhala - the language spoken in Sri Lanka has a really beautiful script with lots of circular shapes. I found a link here:

which gives some introductory lessons if you're curious.

Balalaika and Domra Sheet Music

I am a very happy camper these days because my father bought me my very own 4 string Domra. For those of you who have no clue what that is - it's a musical instrument used in Russian folk music mainly (although I guess the 4 string is really more Ukrainian).

So I've gone hunting across the internet for some sheet music and I found this for FREE:

If you're a violinist you can use this too it's in treble clef. It's a huge collection - handwritten but who cares it's free. So enjoy!
