Studying Russian Classics

I've used this website several times in the past and still find it very useful:

http://www.lse.ac.uk/Depts/language/Ruslang/authors.html

It features lesser known works by Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy and Blok. they have translations, audio and grammar exercises afterwards. All FREE and a great resource.

Another New Podcast From Me

I've created another new podcast I'd love for everyone to check out:

The Boardgame Bard

You can type it into iTunes and subscribe to it from there. Here's my premise:
I play a game of Scrabble (for those of you who don't know what this is - it's like a crossword puzzle except you make up the words yourself as long as they intersect each other either vertically or horizontally). I write down all the words formed during the game and afterwards I write a short story using those words. I love to write anyway but I have found this to be a great tool to defeat "mental block" when you can't think of any ideas to write about - at least for me. See what you think and let me know........

Alla Pugacheva Lyrics Translated

I'm a HUGE Alla Pugacheva fan - especially the early years. I just ran across this site:

http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Alla-Pugacheva/showall.html

that seems to have a lot of her lyrics translated from Russian into English. If you've never heard her I strongly recommend checking out her music. Just about any store in the world that carries Russian pop will have her CDs she's a legend in Russia.

Maupassant Free Audio

For all you French lovers out there I found a great site about the writer Guy de Maupassant:

http://www.guydemaupassant.fr/maupassant.htm

It has all FREE French audio of what appears to be pretty much everything he wrote. Looks pretty good.

OK I've got a new podcast up and running. In iTunes just type in "Armchair Linguist." It's just in the baby stages with 1 episode on writing Berber so far. I'm working on further episodes now. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Breton Music

I ran across this site for Breton language songs. It's a shame they don't have mp3s of a native speaker singing them but nonetheless it is a fantastic resource for lyrics and music for those of you who are musicians.
